The Malaysian Academy of Pharmacy and SwipeRx partner to bring continuing education to the digital age

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2, 2019 – The Malaysian Academy of Pharmacy (MAP) signed an official partnership with SwipeRx during the 2019 MAP Annual General Meeting.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to enhance, empower, and further specialize the role of pharmacists in Malaysia using SwipeRx as an innovative new technology for scaling continuing education.

Attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Haniki Nik Mohamed (MAP Principal), Mr. Andrew Tan, (Deputy President of the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society MPS), Mr. Kelvin Ng (Vice President of Business Development of SwipeRx), and Ms. Jasveen Bhullar (Pharmacy Community Manager of SwipeRx) and council members of MAP and MPS.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Haniki Nik Mohamed spoke of the importance of MAP in credentialing specialists and advanced-level practitioners in pharmacy practice. He welcomed that the MOU allows pharmacists to earn MAP-accredited continuing education points via mobile technology, improving access to continuing professional education across the country and beyond.

Mr. Kelvin Ng discussed the role of mClinica and SwipeRx and applauded the accreditation of pharmacists through the platform. In his address to the attendees, he described the American Pharmacists Association’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certificate training program that combines online self-study and live seminar components as an example of the use of innovative technology in continuing education programs. This ties in with MPS’s goal of empowering pharmacists to give vaccinations, allowing them to fulfill their role in serving and taking care of our society.

About SwipeRx and mClinica

SwipeRx is the largest social network of pharmacies in Southeast Asia. It was developed by mClinica, a Singapore-based social enterprise.

SwipeRx was released in Malaysia in November 2017 at the Asian Young Pharmacists Group conference in Kuala Lumpur. The free mobile application enables all pharmacists in the country to take accredited continuing education modules on their mobile phones, for which they earn digital certificates.

Since the launch of SwipeRx in Malaysia, mClinica has seen strong growth in the country with pharmacists from across the sector using the platform to network and collaborate with their fellow pharmacy professionals, get advice from industry peers on the discussion board, receive essential news, journals and announcements related to pharmacy practice, participate in surveys, search for and apply to jobs, and complete continuing education modules using their mobile phones.

SwipeRx is proud to partner with MAP to advance its goal of improving continuing education for pharmacists in Malaysia.
